Responsibilities include serving as a resource to all diocesan priests as it relates to healthcare, insurance (healthcare, Medicare and long-term care), retirement planning and other benefits available to the priests of the Diocese, as well as coordinating the needs of diocesan retired priests, including the priests who reside at Emmaus Place (priest retirement home). The position is also responsible for coordinating the housing contracts and apartment assignments at Emmaus Place, as well as assisting Emmaus Place residents, if requested, with medical appointments and consultations, transportation needs and other appointments or needs that may arise. Take the opportunity to stand up for the unborn at the N.D. March for Life on Friday, Oct. 10. The day begins with Mass celebrated by Bishop Kagan at 10 a.m. at the Bismarck Event Center (use door A1). This is a new location to accommodate a larger-size crowd. After Mass, all are invited to march to the N.D. capitol building south mall (off Boulevard Avenue) for a rally. The rally is set to begin at 12:30 p.m. The North Dakota March for Life is an annual event in October to coincide with Respect Life Month. Bishop Kagan will lead a holy hour on the eve of the N.D. March for Life on Thursday, Oct. 9 beginning at 7 p.m. at the Cathedral of the Holy Spirit. The public is invited to attend.

Support Dakota Hope Clinic by attending a fundraising banquet at three different locations. Events are Sept. 15 in Minot, Sept. 16 in Tioga and Sept. 22 in Bottineau. Guests will hear real-life stories of how lives have been saved and transformed thanks to generous donations. Attendees will learn how donations of money, baby items, time and prayer have facilitated the clinic's mission of providing life-affirming pregnancy, parenting and family services. The St. Serra Vocations Apostolate of Bismarck-Mandan is having their annual fundraising breakfast and bake sale for religious vocations on Sunday, Sept. 21 at the St. Mary’s Academy cafeteria (1025 N. 2nd St.). The meal is served from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. The menu includes pancakes, sausage, scrambled eggs, coffee and juice. Soft serve ice cream will also be available with an assortment of toppings. Cost is $10 for adults; $5 for children (10 and under) and free for children under age 3. There will also be a bake sale. Donations are welcome for the bake sale and can be dropped off on Saturday, Sept. 20 between 10 a.m. and 2 p.m.

Each year, they look forward to sharing their message with others through the Catholic Charities Sunday video. This year’s theme is “We care. We love. We serve. Join the fun on Sunday, Sept. 28 for the St. Vincent de Paul Society Friends for the Poor Walk. The annual 5k will begin at Sertoma Park at the Sertoma Club Community Center in Bismarck. Registration begins at 3:30 p.m. with the walk at 4 p.m. The Cathedral of the Holy Spirit Knights of Columbus will provide a picnic meal after the walk. This is a noncompetitive walk/run to raise money for the poor in our community. There is no registration fee, but a freewill donation is encouraged. You can pre-register online at svdpbismarck.org. Search for Christian Maturity is a weekend retreat experience which provides youth an opportunity to think, talk, question and dive deeper into their faith. The weekends are for any high school or college age person at least 15 years old. The program is both rooted in the Catholic faith and open to young people of any denomination or creed. Search weekends are held five times throughout the year at the Badlands Ministries Camp just south of Medora. Cost for the weekend is $75. Partial scholarships are available. A remembrance Mass will be celebrated by Bishop Kagan on Wednesday, Oct. 15 at 5:30 p.m. at the Cathedral of the Holy Spirit. All are welcome to attend, especially parents, grandparents and siblings who grieve the loss of a child resulting from miscarriage, stillbirth, abortion or early infant death. October is pregnancy and infant loss awareness month and Oct. 15 is designated nationally as pregnancy and infant loss remembrance day.
