The #1 Bridge to Catholic College Life Can a student’s Catholic faith survive college or the military? Most new college students want to find a place to belong. They want to be part of a community of people making a difference. The problem is many students struggle to find great friends who share their faith. Walking onto a new campus or base with no friends is overwhelming. There are so many opportunities and decisions to make. Faith usually isn’t at the top of their list. Newman Connection connects students with a Catholic community on campus, so their faith thrives in college and beyond. Since 2009, we've connected 600,000+ students to campus ministry in college and are endorsed in 115+ dioceses nationwide, including the Archdiocese of the Military. We ensure students continue their faith journey in college and their military base. Imagine a future where students become lifelong disciples, and their faith survives college and is stronger because of it. The Office of Catechesis and Youth has a number of responsibilities including but not limited to:
Acting as a resource for parishes in the areas of: Pre-K through 12th grade catechesis/religious education, K-12 sacramental preparation, youth & young adult ministry, adult faith formation, and RCIA.
Providing annual events for children, youth and adults including the Emmaus Retreats, National March for Life, Steubenville Conferences, SEEK Conferences, SEARCH and more.
Offering trainings, workshops and retreats throughout the year for parish DREs, youth ministers, catechists and pastors.
50% of kids who are raised Catholic choose to leave the Church as adults. That’s a huge number and, unfortunately, many of those former Catholics made the choice to reject the Faith between the ages of 10 and 17.
To address these staggering statistics, Middle and High School ministry should be focused on creating disciples. This means that a variety of opportunities and experiences for youth to encounter God should be provided at the parish level. More focus should be placed on tangible experiences when developing and implementing adolescent catechesis and ministry.
The safety and protection of youth is of vital concern to the Office of Catechesis and Youth. Information on and access to the Bismarck Diocese Safe Environment Program policies and procedures is available through the Office of Catechesis and Youth.
