50% of kids who are raised Catholic choose to leave the Church as adults.
That’s a huge number and, unfortunately, many of those former Catholics made the choice to reject the Faith between the ages of 10 and 17.
To address these staggering statistics, Middle and High School ministry should be focused on creating disciples. This means that a variety of opportunities and experiences for youth to encounter God should be provided at the parish level. More focus should be placed on tangible experiences when developing and implementing adolescent catechesis and ministry.
