The University of Mary will host a two-day seminar presented by the National Catholic Bioethics Center titled "Catholic Health Care Ethics: A Tradition of Compassion and Care for the Human Person" on Aug. 8-9. This event is open to all who are interested in current issues in bioethics—including topics such as stem cell research, reproductive health and end-of-life care—explored through the lens of Catholic teaching. Beginning Experience, a non-denominational peer ministry, is offering the 10-week session called "Coping with Life Alone." This program is for those who struggle and need support after the loss of a love relationship by death, divorce or separation. Sessions start Sunday, Sept. 7. This Jubilee Year is an opportunity to make pilgrimages or pious visits to designated holy places in order to give thanks to God, to strengthen the faith, and to make acts of reparation for our sins or the sins of others.
