Father Wayne Sattler, a priest of the Bismarck Diocese currently serving as the diocesan spiritual director, will be on EWTN Live with Fr. Mitch Pacwa on Wednesday, Nov. 5 at 7 p.m. CT. The public is invited to attend the annual Mass for Deceased Bishops, Priests and Deacons celebrated by Bishop Kagan on Monday, Nov. 3 at 11 a.m. at the Cathedral of the Holy Spirit in Bismarck. This Mass honors members of the clergy who have passed away.
The Knights of Columbus will be hosting a breakfast at the Christ the King Parish Life Center on Sunday, Oct. 26, serving from 9 until 11:30 a..m. The breakfast will include sausage, pancakes, eggs, loaded hash browns, oatmeal with fruit and milk for a free will offering. Proceeds from the breakfast will be used to support Christ the King Catholic Montessori School, whose mission is to serve Christ in the child, guiding each student in the spiritual and physical development of the intellect, imagination, will and senses through authentic Catholic Montessori education. The Cathedral of the Holy Spirit is looking for a Director of Faith Formation. The Director of Faith Formation is responsible for the leadership, development, and administration of comprehensive faith formation programs within the Cathedral of the Holy Spirit. Duties include administering programs such as Catechesis of the Good Shepherd (CGS), Super Wednesday Family Faith Formation Night, OCIA, sacramental preparation for first communion and confirmation plus middle and high school youth groups. Robert (Bob) Nickola will be ordained as permanent deacon for the diocese on Friday, Oct. 24 at 2 p.m. by Bishop Kagan at the Cathedral of the Holy Spirit. Bob and his wife, Joan, have three grown children. He is retired and is currently a full-time volunteer at the Church of Queen of Peace in Dickinson. Bob is the 40th class of permanent deacons to be ordained for the diocese. Please pray for Bob and his family as he prepares to serve the people of the diocese as a permanent deacon. Take the opportunity to stand up for the unborn at the N.D. Rally for Life on Friday, Oct. 10. The day begins with Mass celebrated by Bishop Kagan at 10:30 a.m. at the Bismarck Event Center (use door A1) followed by the rally at the same location. In light of recent events of violence in our nation and from advice of local law enforcement, members of the N.D. Pro-Life Committee decided to move the event indoors. With safety as the concern, the march from the Bismarck Event Center to the state capitol lawn has been canceled. The schedule of events remains the same as previously announced, only the rally location changed to all events in the Bismarck Event Center. The schedule is: 9:30 a.m. – door A1 open to attendees; 10:30 a.m. – Mass; after Mass – lunch served until gone; 12:30 p.m. – rally for life. The public is invited. The St. Serra Vocations Apostolate of Bismarck-Mandan is having their annual fundraising breakfast and bake sale for religious vocations on Sunday, Sept. 21 at the St. Mary’s Academy cafeteria (1025 N. 2nd St.). The meal is served from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. The menu includes pancakes, sausage, scrambled eggs, coffee and juice. Soft serve ice cream will also be available with an assortment of toppings. Cost is $10 for adults; $5 for children (10 and under) and free for children under age 3. There will also be a bake sale. Donations are welcome for the bake sale and can be dropped off on Saturday, Sept. 20 between 10 a.m. and 2 p.m.
Search for Christian Maturity is a weekend retreat experience which provides youth an opportunity to think, talk, question and dive deeper into their faith. The weekends are for any high school or college age person at least 15 years old. The program is both rooted in the Catholic faith and open to young people of any denomination or creed. Search weekends are held five times throughout the year at the Badlands Ministries Camp just south of Medora. Cost for the weekend is $75. Partial scholarships are available. A remembrance Mass will be celebrated by Bishop Kagan on Wednesday, Oct. 15 at 5:30 p.m. at the Cathedral of the Holy Spirit. All are welcome to attend, especially parents, grandparents and siblings who grieve the loss of a child resulting from miscarriage, stillbirth, abortion or early infant death. October is pregnancy and infant loss awareness month and Oct. 15 is designated nationally as pregnancy and infant loss remembrance day.
